Although headway has been made the past 30 years to reduce the number of deaths caused by drinking and driving, thousands still die each year. Since 1982 there has been a steady decline (42%) in the number of drivers killed in crashes due to driving while intoxicated. While this is good news, meaning less people are driving while intoxicated, there are still no guarantees when getting behind the wheel. As per the Texas department of transportation the following is a result of persons being over the legal limit causing fatal injuries. Info taken from the 2009 press release as stated, of 835 fatal accidents 412 were .080% and over the legal limit. At this percentage of intoxication you can cause very serious injuries to ones self and others involved. Hello Guys and Gals, please be safe this New Years Holiday. Here are some facts to consider when enjoying a fuction that involves alcohol.

Fact 1. During 2009, more DUI – Alcohol crashes were reported in the hour between 2:00 am and 2:59 am than any other hour of the day. Also, more alcohol related crashes occurred on Saturday than any other day of the week.

Fact 2. In 2009, there were 956 people killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes where a driver was under the influence of alcohol. This is 30.9% of the total number of people killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes.

Fact 3. Of all persons killed in vehicles where restraint usage was applicable and usage was known in 2009, 47% were reported as not restrained when the fatal crash occurred.

Suggestion- Do not drink and drive at any cost, your life and others cannot be replaced. Call a cab or stay the night with your friends- They surely will understand. Hint hide your car keys so your chances of getting behind the wheel are limited with your alcohol irrational thinking.

Child Hurt When SUV Crashes

Well I hope he had a good time getting drunk because now the punishment will begin. The US should have better laws against alcohol abuse and hold liquor companies accountable for the injuries as a result of alcohol related accidents. Alcohol abuse severely disables ones judgement to increase the possibility of death. Not to mention loss of marriage, family and jobs.

Wednesday night. The toddler was not seriously injured, but the driver who is responsible is still on the loose. Officials with the Dallas Police Department believe they know the identity of the driver, but he is not yet in custody.

The home is located in the 1100 block of Pleasant Drive. Investigators believe that the vehicle ran a stop sign before crashing into the home.

A 2-year-old girl in the home was taken to Children’s Medical Center after being hit by some flying debris. She had some cuts and abrasions on her head and face, but the injuries are not life threatening.

According to witnesses, the driver appeared to be highly intoxicated and did not remain at the scene until officers arrived. “From what witnesses are telling us out here, he called a friend from a scene near here to pick him up with a change of clothes,” said Sgt. Floyd Burke with the Dallas Police Department. “And then later, phone calls came in saying the vehicle involved in the crash was reported as being stolen.”

Police expect to have the driver in custody soon.
