Nursing home abuse Texas

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

We’re there when you need us!

Sadly, nursing home abuse is a growing area of the law. As our population ages, an increasing number of people are residing in assisted living facilities. More residents in such facilities lead to more instances of abuse and neglect. The Denton nursing home abuse attorneys at our firm are very knowledgeable about this area of the law. If you believe that a loved one in a nursing home is being abused or neglected in some way, it is important to speak to an elder law attorney immediately. Contact the elder neglect lawyers at Haire Law Firm to discuss your concerns.

Nursing Home Neglect

Elder neglect is the failure of a caregiver to take care of the physical, medical, or emotional needs of an elderly person. Such abuse may result from inadequate training or insufficient staffing. However, the facility operator is responsible for providing adequate care for residents. Poor training or insufficient staffing is not a defense against charges of elder abuse or negligence. Evidence of elder neglect or abuse in nursing homes may include bedsores, ulcers, fractures, malnutrition, dehydration, and unexplained bruises and injuries.

Nursing Home Abuse

Nursing home abuse, unlike neglect, is almost always the result of deliberate mistreatment. Nursing home abuse can be physical, such as hitting, slapping, shaking, or inappropriate use of restraints. It can also be emotional, involving things like humiliation, yelling, and verbal insults. Additionally, abuse can include sexual abuse, dangerous forms of punishment, and taking advantage of residents financially. Sadly, it can even result in death.

Our Most Vulnerable Citizens

The elderly are among our most vulnerable citizens. They can be lonely, afraid, confused, and unwilling to report instances of abuse and neglect. This is why it is critical for family members to be alert to signs of elder abuse and neglect. If you suspect that a loved one is being abused or neglected in any type of care facility for the elderly, contact a skilled elder law attorney right away. Our compassionate and dedicated attorneys at our firm, Haire Law Firm, have much experience in this area of the law. We know what to do to stop the abuse and secure compensation for any injuries that occurred.

Contact Rocky Haire and Justin Steinbock at the Denton office of Haire Law Firm to schedule an initial consultation about Nursing Home Abuse.
